Training Day 1

Morning:

  • Welcome, introductions, and course overview
  • Difference between studio Yoga and water-based Yoga
  • Tools and techniques for being effective with your words
  • Obstacles to SUP (sun, bugs, weather, wind, temperature)
  • Introduction to equipment
  • How to paddle, teaching the basics
  • Land warm-ups
  • Teaching water entry
  • Review of skills and practice
  • On-board warm-ups
  • Yoga flow, guided meditation
  • Paddle circle

Lunch 01:00PM – 02:00PM

Afternoon:

  • Class planning (wind, tide, current)
  • Safety planning
  • Yoga-based classes vs paddle-based classes vs float-based classes – what are your goals?
  • How to safely carry a board/ load your board on a car
  • Using different anchors and ways to anchor
  • Utilizing currents and free-floating when it’s right for you
  • Paddle skills
  • Yoga skills and drills
  • Yoga class

 

Training Day 2

Morning:

  • Communication, presentation, and adaptation, being prepared when something doesn’t go as planned
  • Making your paddle a yoga prop
  • Managing your group
  • Incorporating your personal teaching style
  • Developing creative sequences
  • Student-led yoga demo sequences
  • Paddle Circle meditation


Lunch 01:00PM – 02:00PM

Afternoon:

  • Introduction to Therapeutic Applications of SUP Yoga
  • Water rescues
  • Fine-tuning and teaching techniques
  • Yoga sequencing
  • Student-led demo classes
  • Paddle circle guided meditation
