Orthopedic Yoga Back Care Program
This course focuses on spinal care, as well as the rehabilitation of spinal injuries and conditions such as herniated disks, stenosis, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, pinched nerve and generalized back care.
Michelle found yoga and it saved her life. She stumbled into an Ashtanga class one afternoon and found it was the first thing that made her intense anxiety and depression dissipate. After tearing a ligament in her knee during a class - and finding that her scoliosis was worsening with the practice - she began to delve deeply into the anatomy behind the poses in an effort to find a safe and effective way to retain the exhilarating flow she loved so much.
She has since become a Yoga Therapist, a Thai Bodyworker, a Nerve and Artery specialist and a Board Certified Structural Integrator in the lineage of Ida Rolf. It was through these complementary practices of wellness that she healed her body - and from there Orthopedic Yoga Therapy was born.
These days she trains teachers and students to find a fluid pattern of movement that protects and nourishes the joints while stretching the muscles and connective tissue and quieting the mind. She is the owner of Sanctuary Wellness Studios, Director of Orthopedic Yoga and Transformational Yoga Therapy and founder of Equilibrium, a non-profit dedicated to bringing breath, movement and nutrition education to young people with anxiety and mood disorders.
After living and learning all over the country, she now teaches internationally, bringing her unique style of yoga to students of all levels, ages, shapes and sizes. She has been teaching for almost 20 years and training teachers for over 10 years. She believes it is a blessing to be able to bring people the gifts of a strong body, a quiet mind and a blissful spirit.
“Seeing Michelle and getting relief after only 1 session was truly miraculous and meant the world to me. Her time and expertise offered such a unique perspective and specialized healing modality made all the difference. ”
“As I dug deeper into the program and compared it with others, what I found was a miraculously organized yoga teacher training. Michelle has designed the program to include required classes as well as offering flexibility in the elective courses.”

“The bodywork Michelle performed on me was MIRACULOUS! She made me feel so comfortable talking about my past and current medical history, discomfort I have been feeling, and really listened to what I wanted to get out of the experience. ”
“The challenge from the environment as well as the program pushed me to see just what I was capable of! And the results we got with our clients at the end of the training were spectacular. ”
“What caught my eye most about Michelle’s program was the emphasis on anatomy and the human body, as well as the wide variety of elective options she has come through her studio.”
“I am very grateful and appreciative of the unique quality evaluation and healing tools you have and I am lucky enough to experience.”
“As a mother of an adolescent young woman I can tell you that you have absolutely made a positive impact in her life.
She first came to the Yoga for young women for the summer yoga camp in 2015.
After that week with you I felt that I had my daughter back. ”
